Welcome to Integral Psych New York. Psych is short for both psychology and psychotherapy, where psychology includes growth and development, as well as healing from psychological pain.
The psychological work we do together has three goals: healing, wholeness, and growth: healing from earlier wounds, wholeness in the sense of yourself, and growth as personal and transpersonal evolution through life. We are fundamentally happiest when all three components are progressing.
What is Integral?
Integral is the name of a theory and a perspective, which organizes all the possible ways we can look at any situation or any person, including ourselves. The theory, developed by philosopher of consciousness, Ken Wilber, places the human being in a grand context of evolution, like a "You are here" sign within the universe of matter, biology, psychology, culture, and states of consciousness, some of which people experience as spiritual.
"Integral" also refers to a perspective. Anything we can think, or feel, comes out of an implicit perspective that each of us takes, somewhat unconsciously, in every moment. It is this perspective that we can learn more about, expand, and see more of life. Expanding consciousness and seeing more provides more freedom and more choices, in dealing with everyday life and a sense of meaning and value in existence.
